About me

My name is Zbigniew Szylanski and I come from Torun (Poland)), where I set up my business.
Establishing one's own web-site seems to be the easiest way to pass information that might be interesting for somebody out there. By presenting my photos, I share my perception of the world with the others; I show the uniqueness of the amazing nature and picture all that attracts my attention. I would not call my work artistic, art has never been my aim. However, I will be satisfied if the guests visiting my site stop for a moment and feel pleased by my photographs.
The purpose of the site is not advertisement. I do not mean to derive any financial benefits from photography. I consider myself an amateur and my job, which gives me a lot of satisfaction, is by no means related to photography.
I resumed photography as a hobby a few years ago, after a long break. My photographic knowledge has been acquired in a rather traditional way. I started with a thorough reading of many textbooks and various scripts. Then, there was time for putting my knowledge into practice. I find books, albums, exhibitions as well as internet very helpful in discovering and understanding the work of the most know artists, both Polish and international. I am still rather critical about my photos; despite long self-education in the field of photography, I am still at the beginning of my road to being good. Having learnt and practiced for so many years, I can see clearly how little I know. And the more I learn, the more I doubt myself and the more humble I become. The most important, though, is the fact that photography gives me unlimited pleasure, lets me relax and stay in touch with nature. That is the essence of my hobby, I do it because I like it.
Please, turn a blind eye on the drawbacks of my work. There is always enough room for improvement.
